The Consequences

The consequences of the fall of man on humanity spread like a virus from the spirit of man, into the soul and ultimately conquering the human body with death. Understanding the progression of sin and how it produced death in mankind will give us greater insight and understanding of our redemption and salvation. If it took time for sin to produce death in us, then it will also take time for righteousness to produce life in us. Through a careful study of Cain, Abel, Noah and Ham we will start to understand the problems we have today in helping people grow up into salvation. We are not just dealing with sin producing death in the spirit of man, but also the soul and the body.

Scriptures:

Genesis 4-9

Think about this -

  1. How does understanding the consequences of the fall help us understand our salvation?
  2. Can you describe the consequences of sin in your spirit, soul and body? How does sin affect us in the various aspects of our humanity?
  3. If Adam and Eve’s sin immediately deadened humanity to a consciousness of God, why were Cain and Abel still worshipping God through offerings? And then why did God tell Cain that sin was crouching at the door and that he must master it?
  4. How did Noah walk with God as a righteous man, blameless in his generation (Genesis 6:9) and why didn’t the fall of man seemingly affect his relationship with God?
